High Spirits Flutes

Odell Borg

is the founder of High Spirts Flutes.

When I started playing in 2013 I think these were the only kind you could buy in a store in the Netherlands

I bought my first flute in Eindhoven and was an A minor, this flute came with a CD and a booklet with the tone scales of all flutes that are made by Odell. Because of this video I quickly mastered playing this flute. Only the vibrato had to wait a while. From this series I have the most flutes because importing flutes always costs extra money. That way I have all keys in my possession .

Here the first recording put online with the Am-flute on youtube on March 22, 2014 meanwhile at the moment there are more than a hundred videos online

Below a Bass flute that the owner of Hopi Navajo brought

for me when he visited America to do some shopping. Picked it up personally in The Hague.

This photo was taken in the OLV church in Vlissingen where I was could practice until April 2022 and enjoy the beautiful echo.

Eagle bone whistle (Van Klei)

The Ritual

The original eagle bone whistle, is a sacred religious musical instrument used by American Indians, it is originally made from the long wing bones of the bald eagle or the American golden eagle and is used for Native American religious ceremonies.

The eagle bone whistle is considered an extremely powerful spiritual object for the American Indians. Eagle bone whistles produce a series of high-pitched notes reminiscent of an eagle's cry. By varying the airflow and pressure, various nuts can be produced. These whistles are only used in ceremonies to contact spirits of the ancestors and grandfathers. Eagle bone whistles are often worn with red mescal bean chains during peyote ceremonies. They are also carried in buffalo hide pouches made especially for this purpose. Many Native Americans believe that music created from the bones of eagles can be heard in the spirit world. The Sun Dance performed by the Ute and Lakota also uses eagle bone whistles, which are played continuously by the dancers during the sacred dance rituals.

This whistle is made of clay so not an original whistle. I mainly use it in music with eagles in it and as an example when explaining this flute.

By the way, it is forbidden to own an eagle bone only with a permit.
