Native American style flute music

My father gave me a beautiful gong that I sometimes use when making a song, it has a beautiful sound. It would be nice to use it for a performance, but then you need a gong standard

I thought it would be nice to make it from branches instead of straight slats. Together with Wim and Basera on a raid in Buttinge where a number of trees had just been felled. Beautiful ash wood branches that Wim sawed to size so that they could be put in the car. I started by removing the crack, which was a job that brought me back to my youth, where I always made things from natural materials, such as my own bow and arrows.

It was a time when you didn't just go to a cheap store and buy for almost nothing o lot of the plastic junk. In good spirits I thought of how I would make the stand while "skinning" the branches. Fortunately,

I took a woodworking course years ago that I still benefit from. So I took all my tools to the kitchen and started.
Nothing was straight so you had to be careful what you were doing and just measuring and sawing or drilling was not an option. Made part by part, put a lot of art and flying on my knees to drill in the right place. To make it even easier, it also had to be able to be taken apart for transport. Everything is secured with bolts. To get it firm, triangles had to be placed somewhere because the stand kept moving and the gong is heavy, attaching it was not that simple, but it worked.
But perseverance wins at the world shop I found a nice statue of soapstone in which I glued a bolt so that it could be placed on the top beam. The whole lacquered so that the wood remained beautiful.

As always when you are busy, new ideas come to mind so I thought it would be nice if the tubes of a wind chime were also attached to it. So I looked for some wood again and started crafting. In the video below you can see and hear the result.

During the first try out in the Mediterranean Garden we discovered that a microphone would also be useful. I had just the right branch left and a stone with a hole in the garden. Thus the matching microphone stand was born.
