The E flute is made of Yellow Cedar and the totem of Mahogany and has a warm sound, the bottom hole of this flute is a challenge for my small hands to play.

The Cedar Tree

Yellow cedar bark, which has anti-inflammatory properties, was often used as a wound dressing, as a compression bandage or to ward off evil. Many beliefs and taboos are also associated with the cedar tree. For example, someone who killed a tree by improper harvesting would be cursed by other cedar trees. Likewise, some believe that a pregnant woman should not weave baskets or else the umbilical cord would twist around the baby's neck. Since the cedar is a long-lived tree, some Coast Salish groups ensured longevity for their babies by placing the afterbirth in the stump of a large cedar.
